Hello

I added pics of Ludwig, so you can all see what my turtle looked like. I should have Molly, Roxy, KC, and Shilo up by next time.

I worked today, and yesterday. We started back at Hughs’ but should be done tomorrow. We sepent the day cutting sod, which is one of the most evil jobs we get stuck with. It’s not so bad when it’s dry and peels right off, but when it’s wet like now it just won’t come up.

I spent Monday with Jenn, and was there last night too. Will be going there tonight too. I am almost considering not mentioning it anymore unless we do something big, since I am there every night for the last 3 weeks.

Toshiba unveiled their new 60GB 1.8″ drives today, so it shouldn’t be too long before we see 60 gig ipods. Maybe as soon as WWDC at the end of this month, but maybe not until early August. It depends on how soon Toshiba starts shipping them. I figure 20 40 60 as new lineup, but only Steve and Jon know for sure (Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, and Jon Rubinstein, head of the iPod division for those not in the know).

Salute your Shorts, Hey Dude, Clarisa Explains it All, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Care Bears, GI Joe, Punky Brewster, Pippi Longstocking, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, 321 Contact, Alf, Dinosaurs, Eureeka’s Castle, The Elephant Show, The Joy of Painting, Mr. Rodgers, Beakman’s World, You Can’t Do That on Television, Bill Nye, Pete and Pete, Reading Rainbow, Connections, The Secret Life of Machines. Just thoughts. Leave any I missed that you liked, would love to hear. Maybe next poll will be related.

OK, I think that’s it. Be back Saturday with more stuff. PLEASE comment and vote, I always like feedback. And yes, I am working on getting the site back up.

Skinamarinky Dinky Dink,
Skinamarinky Doo,
I Love You

Late Again, Dang

Well, I am late again. Oh well, is only 2:10, so not that bad.

I went with Jenn to Alpena today, to meet her parents and see where she grew up. We had a lot of fun, and I know her that little bit better now. Yesterday I worked for a while in the morning, then Jenn and I went grocery shopping and made some interesting food. She made a hash-brown casserole, and chinese vegetable & shrimp marinara. Friday I worked also, then went with Jenn to Ruby Tuesday’s and then to a batting cage.

I have began changing the website. I have pulled down the site and put up a new index page. The new site will look similar, as I work on it. I am really happy with the way its turning out, much better than previous.

Ok, thats all for now. New poll up, so vote, and comment.

Happy Memorial Day!

One Year!!!

Woohoo, I have a blog! I feel so special now, everyone else had a blog and I was feeling so left out. Now though, now I am somebody, now I am a Blogger!

Thats how it all started, 1 year ago today, at 2:21am. Now a year has passed, and I sit here writing my 130th post, with over 1320 visits to my site, and still have nothing useful to say.

I’ve moved from a web form on blogger, to using Kung-Log to post to blogger, to iblog on my .Mac account, and from a few pics hosted on .Mac to a full website.

A lot has changed in my life to, outside my blog. I’ve moved upstairs, finally gotten settled into grandma’s house, received an associates degree, applied for several jobs, gotten a wonderful girlfriend, and so much more.

Future changes I hope will include moving more from the website to the blog (notice there is now a stories category), moving back to a single counter, and adding a search. Also, I hope to move away from my “3 day rule” and become more spontaneous in my updates, posting whenever I feel the urge.

Outside the poll, I hope the next year will finally bring me back to GM, maybe another degree, and who knows what else.

What hasn’t happened? Well, v3b4 is still beta, and v3b5 will probably be around soon. It will surely be different, and will be based on my moving things from the website right into the blog.

OK, so the normal stuff…

Monday after the blog, I went to Jenn’s, as did I Tuesday and Wednesday, and will tonight. Tuesday was a rain day, but yesterday and today we worked. Tuesday night Jenn and I went to Van Oghtingham’s (I know that’s spelled wrong) for some flowers for her house, then Meijer and over here to make tacos. Last night she wasn’t home till 9:30, so we didn’t do much.

So that’s it, all I have done.

Mac users, 10.3.4 is out.

BC State park is flooded, so don’t expect to go camping this weekend.

Water, Juice and Tea bottles may have deposit soon.

And that is it for me tonight.

If you are leaving for Memorial Day weekend, have a safe trip and enjoy yourself, and Happy Memorial Day. If not, I will see you on Sunday with my 131st update, unless I get bored before then.

Proof old habits die hard: “Telephone Poles” haven’t carried telephone lines in several years. Most telephone lines are buried. Power Poles, or Cable Poles, would be a better choice. Actually, “Power Lines”, is bad too, since they really carry energy, power isn’t produced until we do something with that energy.

Another Day, Another Blog

Well, I decided I should update before going to Jenn’s tonight, so I don’t end up late again.

I kinda worked today. We mostly drove around to Dixie Cut Stone and to do a few bids. It’s something. Even if I worked for two minutes, it would be 2 more minutes than last week.

I’m watching “A Beautiful Mind”. I’ve wanted to see it for quite a while, but forgot it when at the video store. By the way, LOTR:ROTK comes out tomorrow, and I will be renting it as soon as I can get to a video store.

Yesterday was my dad’s birthday. He is now 50. There was no big hoopla though, at least not while I was there. Generally they wait and celebrate my dad and uncle’s birthday together, around Memorial Day.

I am really excited for WWDC at the end of next month. Preview of OS X 10.4 Tiger, probably a new G5 with fun specs like double sided DVD writer and dual 2.5Ghz or faster 970s, and more.

Today is the 24th, which means next update will be the anniversary. That means I need to do a shitload of work on the site in the next 3 days.

So what have I been up to…

Yesterday I went to Jenn’s, shopped at Meijer, and ate at the Texan. Saturday was Meijer also, along with taking the dogs for a walk. The dogs being our Molly and Brittany, a Collie/German Shepherd my grandma is watching. And on Friday was, uhm… Oh, an update, so I already told you. Haha!

I really couldn’t remember for a minute there.

OK, so that’s all then.

I WILL do a nice, big update on Thursday, for my anniversary. And vote, you scardy pants. I only got 2 on last poll and 1 on this.

Suspect is down.
Suspect is down… permanently.

Humm Dee Dum

Lets see…

Sunday I mowed the lawn, and then went over to Jenn’s for a while. We went to the flea market and she got an end table, then we went to a few rummage sales. Then her roommate Sarah’s brother and his gf came over for dinner. Sarah makes a very good meatloaf, I must say.

Monday I got a haircut. Jenn had a bad day at work, and took Sarah and Sarah’s dog to the vet. Her dog Lucy has a tumor in her shoulder. Hopefully not the nasty C word. So I stayed home while Jenn tried to comfort Sarah some.

Today I went with mom to Redi-Med for an ear infection. I took Jenn to Catholic Federal to open an account, since TCF sucks, then to Grandpa Tony’s with Jenn and Sarah. After dinner Jenn and I went to State Park to play on the “Come Play by the Bay” thing. Not very good slides, but was still plenty to goof off on.

That brings me to now then.

I was playing with the website a bit yesterday, so it may have been down, sorry about that.

A few new pics may make their way up soon, we will see.

Ok, I am tired, and may or may not work tomorrow, so am heading to bed.

When it seems like nothing is going your way, and everything seems to be just wrong, just remember one thing:
It was like that when you got there.

Whoopsie

OK, I admit it. I am late on this post. It is 2:24am on Sunday, and I was supposed to post on Saturday. Oh well. By old standards, this would be fine, so I deem it still so.

So lets see…

Only 1 vote on poll so far. That’s a bit disappointing. You people need to get it together.

My past few days activities…

Thursday and Friday we did not work, since it was supposed to rain., It did some, so that was a nice break. Saturday we did work though, so I will have an at least decent paycheck.

Thursday I went on a 16.2 mile bike ride, as a follow up to the 10 I did Wednesday night. A note for you all: Don’t do 10 miles, then 15 a mere 14 hours later. After you pass 5 miles, it’s not so bad, but until you get that far there is some pain.

I have been spending the past several evenings wit Jenn. We went to the Driving range on earlier in the week, went to Carrol and Maplewood park on Thursday, and Maplewood again on Friday. Roller slides are awesome, I forgot that. Especially when they’re wet, its much better. Today we went to Dutch Village for putt putt, Texan for dinner, and then to the end of Finn Rd. to watch the sunset.

That would be about it. I highly suggest you all go find a roller slide, or go play at a park you haven’t been to in several years. It is a lot of fun. Wet slides and swings with puddles below are too much fun to leave behind.

See you all Tuesday,

nick

Pedestrians always have the right of way,
Except when their in the way.

It's warm again, yeay!

Broadway closed late Monday night, or Tuesday morning. It is beginning to suck. It’s not so bad that I can’t go down broadway, but that it’s really hard to pull onto Lafayette from Wilson.

Somebody using AOL for XP has been frequenting the blog. There is no referral, and it’s a recurring visitor. Whoever you are, show yourself. Please?

Erica has disappeared. I see her view blog now and then, but doesn’t read posts, just comes to index page. I presume looking to see if mentioned. Well here you go, you are being mentioned. ;-P

Three votes on poll. You guys can do better than that, come on. I should have put up UHF, I didn’t think about it at the time though. BTW Sarah, you need to put the “other” movie in a comment!

I did more work on the website, but didn’t post the changes. I am in a bit of a dilemma over it. I just don’t know what I should be doing with it. Oh well, I will decide eventually.

Hmmm…

Saturday at 11 is Bubba Ho-tep. Should be fun.

Ok, I’m all out. Will talk at you all Sunday.

UNIX is basically a simple operating system, but you have to be a genius to understand the simplicity.

Ehh, Kinda Tired

Oh, what to say, what to say…

Well, there are only about 2 hours remaining in the itunes giveaway. Apparently only like 5 million of the 100 million free songs had been redeemed as of Wednesday morning. BTW, Wednesday was the 1 yr anniversary of the itunes music store, and also brought the release of a new version of itunes, now at 4.5. I have redeemed all 11 of my songs.

I forgot to point out that throughout IC America, it was very noticeable (to me anyway) that Alton Brown was using a 15″ AlBook (a mac). He was in MacWorld a year or 2 ago for his mac use.

Tomorrow I am going with Scott to Chen’s (new chinese place in mall) for lunch, then to see Monty Python and the Holy Grail at Fashion Square. I suggest you all go as well, only $3.

School is all over. As far as I know, I have an A in Java, a B- in Networking Essentials, and an A in Adv. HTML. Not bad overall. I do have one problem though, ITS NOT WARM YET! Well, sometimes it is, but its generally railing at those times. Stupid weather.

Scott has suggested that I post the results for the past polls. They are all saved by bravenet, but only visible to me. I will need to set up a page on the website with them all I guess. I should anyway, because I think it only remembers the last 10, and I don’t want to lose them.

I think thats it for now. I’ sure I am forgetting something, but it will need to wait til Monday. Also, a new poll Monday.

bye,

I went WarDriving!

I drove around for like an hour today WarDriving. For those who don’t know, it means I was driving around with my laptop looking for WiFi networks that I can connect to. I found a whole heaping load of them, especially along 4th and 5th streets, where the older buildings prevent easily pulling wire. Now i really want a GPS though, so I can record the networks and their location, for future reference. I can build a WiFi coverage map of the city for all you to use. I just need $89 for the GPS though.

Evil Sarah says I can’t vote in my own polls I see. The very nice Scott says I can though. Hopefully a few more of you will vote too.

Iron Chef America is all over now, though it is replaying all week. Results are as follows:

Flay over Sakai – Trout
Batali over Morimoto – Spiny Lobster
Puck over Morimoto – Eggs
Flay and Morimoto over Batali and Sakai – Sea Urchin, Scallops, and Langoustine

All 4 were against my judgment, except the Batali Morimoto. All in all though, I guess Flay was winningiest with 2 wins, followed by Batali, Puck, and Morimoto in a tie with 1 each, then followed by Sakai with 0. So the winners of the poll contest are Erica and Stacey, who both voted Morimoto. I would have voted probably Sakai (who should have been 2-0, not 0-2) or Batali. I still can’t freaking believe that Sakai lost a fish battle, or even lost at all. And that Sakai and Batali lost the Tag team is bull.

Anyway…

Tomorrow I have HTML, Thursday will be JS and Networking, then I am free! Yeay, 2 days off. Ok, not so impressive. Will give me more hours to work so I can afford a GPS though.

Hmmm, what else…

Oh, Monthy Python and the Holy Grail, this Saturday at 11pm at Fashion Square. I know Scott is going, and hope more of you can too. Let me know, ok?

I guess that is all.

Will see you all Friday to let you know how last week of school went.

bye,
nick

You don’t need to be right all the time, just enough of the majority that people THINK you are.

Owwwww

Well, after working yesterday and today, I am rather sore and tired. Though, I guess I am lucky. Suchyta was going to work with us yesterday, and about 30 minutes in he crushed his finger between the dump box we were putting on the truck and the hoist we were lifting it with. He broke it open and fractured the bone, needing 5 stitches. I’m sure it hurts like hell too.

I didn’t manage to get a bike ride in this week due to either poor weather, being at work, or lack of motivation. Next week I guess.

Down to the last week of class now. I have homework for my 2 f2f classes, and a test for my inet class. So very close, I am glad.

Iron Chef America started last night. The first episode was an intro, and the second was Flay v. Sakai in the trout battle. Amazingly, Flay(now 2 and 1) won, bringing Sakai’s(70-16-1) first even loss in a fish battle. That battle just replayed, and on now is Batali(0-0) v. Morimoto(16-7-1) in the Spiny Lobster battle. Tomorrow will be a repeat of the 3 past battles, followed by Morimoto v. Puck, then the 2 on 2 finale. From what I’ve seen, other secret ingredients may include sea urchins, tuna, and scallops. Also, Alton Brown’s role seems to be as the commentator, and the new chairman is none other than the nephew of Kaga himself.

Still no work on the site. I hope to move all my school projects from Delta’s server to my own site after school is over, and finally recompile my Java Applets.

Ok, I guess that’s it.
See you Tuesday.
