About The Weekend

Over the weekend I rode my bike to work Friday and Saturday. It’s about 4 miles round trip, not much but something. I also rode from Jenn’s to home and back today. I hope to make it to state park and back one day this week.

I got a response from my QA professor that I will get an A in the class, but it is not yet on my report card. Regaurdless, I get Dean’s list for this semester. I was hoping for vice-president’s list again, but oh well, its something.

I do not have to work tomorrow, because we are begining the new schedule this week. I will, as already posted a week or two ago, be working the following schedule henceforth:

Thursday: 9 – 5
Friday: 12 – 5
Saturday: 9 – 5

I am suppsed to work at 8:30 either Thursday or Saturday, I don’t remember which. Anyway, I like that they are close to each other, but don’t particularly like waking up so early. Maybe it will get me up early on some of the other days to get some biking in before it gets really warm out.

OK, see you all later.

2500th visitor

I would just like to congratulate Sarah on being my 2500th visitor on May 1st at 14:38:37, which is about 2:40 pm.

BTW, Sarah, did you change your AIM name or block people or something? I never see you online anymore.

Grades

I got my grades (most of them anyway) and they are as follows:

CAD A
Speech A-
Electronics A
Machining B-
QA ?

For whatever reason, the QA grade isn’t on my report card or my transcript. The most obvious reason is that it was submitted late, but the class actually ended a week before any of my others, so that is kinda strange.

In other news, I went with Jenn yesterday to take her cousin to Flint Bishop airport, after which we tried to find White Castle, but were looking on Miller and it is apparently on Coruna. I also got some goodies for my bike in the form of a new lock (I somehow lost mine) and a new rear rack.

That is all for now I believe.

Currently…

I have the blog running at what I think is normal, the poll is fixed, and the counter is back up after some glitches after my work.

Again, as you probably noticed, the blog was moved from /blog to the root level of the site, as well as receiving a new theme (that will be tinkered with, but remain largely the same for a few months anyway). All the pictures and stories and such were removed from the site, though they will return eventually. There is, though, now a nice search field in the sidebar.

Current plans are to add a few WordPress plugins, then get to work on a few pages, a todo list being one of those.

Any comments, questions, suggestion, feel free to email or comment.

Updated

So, big updates. You may notice the address of the blog is now right at the root of the site, rather than at /blog/. I am moving some things around in the constant hope that a little more work now will save me some later. The problem of course is that I am constantly coming up with new ideas like this so there is always more and more work.

Anyway…

Last night when I was going to bed (too late by the way) I remembered I hadn’t slept there the night before. No, I slept in my backyard, as it dropped to nearly freezing, in my tent. I set it up Wednesday evening and slept in it for the night. I wanted to air it some, and make sure it was in good condition for camping which will begin soon. With my sleeping bag though, it really wasn’t too bad.

Uhm, still no grades. I guess thats it.

Done!

My last class for the semester was today, I am done until August. Yay!

I sold all but 1 book back, for a total of $130, for over $500 worth of books. Oh well, $130 is better than $0.

Now that I am out of school, I can begin some of my projects, one of them being blog work that will commence very soon. The poll has been being flaky, and my fixing it isn’t helping much, so that will certainly be on the list. Anyway, if the blog/poll/site/etc… do not work on one of your visits, don’t be alarmed.

Grades aren’t back yet, I am very sure of an A in everything but machining and CAD, since I didn’t do a particularly hard CAD final project (in my opinion anyway) and I didn’t finish all the machining projects, but I am still fairly sure of at least a B in both of those.

I think that’s it for now. Happy summer.

Almost

So, today is the Monday of the last week of school. I go sit in my CAD class today and watch the final presentations, tomorrow I take my final electronics test, followed by giving my final speech, then Thursday I have 4 hours to finish up in machining then do shop cleanup. That will be it then, no more till late August. Funny thing about the electronics test, it’s a 2 hour class, and I average about 5 or 10 minutes for the tests. Makes me wish I didn’t have a class afterward. Then again, the thought of giving an 8 minute speech makes me with I didn’t have the class afterward alot more.

We got our new work schedules for the summer at the staff meeting on Friday. I will be working 9 – 5 Thursday, 12 – 5 Friday, and 9 – 5 Saturday. I think Thursday is actualy 8:30, but were not open till 9 so you couldn’t visit me anyway.

Along with the hammock and ride to Mackinac, I am also considering making either a kayak or canoe over the summer. A kayak would be slightly cheaper and easier, but it would be a bit lonely, and a canoe is much cheaper than 2 kayaks. Reguardless, building eith is alot cheaper than buying one, and should prove to be a somewhat fun project.

So…, yeah, I guess that’s about all for now. Will let you know how the week ended and possibly some grades later in the week. I am getting at least a B in all my classes right now, with all A- or better certainly not out of the question.

Almost Done

Yesterday I turned in the last 2 chapters as well as the exam for my QA-244 class, and gave my final presentation for my CAD-226 class. Next Tuesday I give my final speech for SPH-112. That will pretty much end the semester. It is becoming exciting.

Friday we are having a staff meeting at work and will be discussing summer schedules. Since I decided on not taking summer classes, I will only have work over the summer, but have to be hired directly by the library rather than work-study. This is good and bad, I will have to pay taxes (bad), but will get refund, (good), but will be able to work more hours (good), and don’t need to worry about class, homework, and work, just work (good). I guess 3 to 1 makes it overall good. Ehh, 3 to 2, I will need to take the class during fall semester.

Jenn and I were on Bed Bath and Beyond last night, and I realized I was staring at bedding sets not as they were, but as website color schemes. I immediately realized the over-geekyness and stopped though.

Uhm…

I guess that’s it.

Summer is Coming

Wow, barely a week. Sadly, thats good for me recently.

Today I did 2 assignments for my QA class and printed out a bunch of stuff for my public speaking assignment. In all I did about 6 solid hours of homework today. It was nice out too, I would have loved a bike ride, but that’s what procrastinators get.

I have been thinking over some summer accomplishments I went to do, and here is the current list.

  • Clean my room (lets just say the blog isn’t the only thing I’ve been slacking on)
  • Ride bike to Rose City (to camp at RRRA) in prep for…
  • Ride bike to Mackinaw (yes, seriously, like 180 miles)
  • Get some reading in
  • Catch a fish
  • Visit Ferris

I think that would make for one hell of a summer, yes?

Really, I have been thinking it over, looking into it, and I really think the Mackinaw ride is a serious possibility. It would require like a week off work, and a lot of biking in spare time to build up endurance, and some real planning, but it can be done. Dave (from the library) has mentioned a desire to perhaps come, but I am up in the air about companions. On the one hand, it could be more fun, and probably a little safer. On the other though, his foot is broken, nobody else has offered, and I would be slightly pissed if I didn’t make it because my companion crapped out (not saying he would, just hypothetical, like the safety part).

Like I said though, Rose City first. Jenn can take supplies in her car and I can ride just to get some endurance riding in. RRRA (which is in Lupton, actually) is about 70 miles, less than half the way to Mackinac (which is only 180 miles I just found out, somehow was in my mind is 300, but actually 3 hour drive). Anyway, 70 miles is certainly doable in a day, in a mere 5 – 7 hours.

And like I said, I need to catch a fish. Last year I caught one, but didn’t land it. I need to catch, land, and decide if I will keep or release the fish, at least 3 times.

The Ferris thing could actually get turned into a bike trip too, or could be put off till fall, unsure for now.

Ok, that’s all for now.

Three weeks till school is over, then I should be able to start getting stuff done, and get back to blogging normally :).

April Fools

No, I’m not going to write some farce in trickery, I just need to update, and it happens to be today.

Today is also, btw, Apple’s 30th Birthday.

Tuesday I skipped speech, and half of electronics. It was really nice out and I decided I should have a day off, since I was sick through spring break. I went down to the end of Johnson and explored the bit of trails hidden there and shopped a bit at Meijer, then drove around with the windows down for a bit. Then some homework to make it all even out. It was quite nice out the past few days. Kinda cool and wet today, but better than winter.

School is coming closer to a close, which means an increase in final projects and such, which I am not appreciating.

I did a little biking Wednesday, 5.5 miles. I was a little tired when I left so not that far, I know, but is a start. I really really want to do more biking this summer.

So, that’s about it for now. I will try and be back within a week.
