The Weekend

Weekend went OK. Was nice to have some time free finally.

Jenn and I went to Midland on Saurday. After visiting the mall we drove around looking for food for a while and I decided we should go to Pat and Jerry’s in Auburn, they had buffet and it was awesome. I forgot how good they are.

Sunday I mowed the lawn and did some homework for business.

Monday I worked, then went to school.

I have not had a pop since Tuesday last week. Other than a V8 Splash, I haven’t had anything but water actually. Not bad.

The prescription I am on has been making me quite tired and a little light headed now and then. Makes life a little more interesting though.

I think thats all for now.

Will This Make Me Less Wise?

Yesterday I visited the dentist because my damn wisdom tooth was bothering more this week. They took an X-Ray, poked at it a few times, and told me come back next Thursday. Finally, after 3+ years of pain, I will be rid of the damn thing. I am still nervous, as I don’t particularly enjoy dentist visits, but it will be nice to be rid of it. I am sure some other tooth will take its place in causing me misery though.

Next weekend is also the River of Time. I once again have full plans of going, even if I do hurt like all hell from a pulled tooth. I am sure kettle corn is out for this year, but some cream soda does sound good. I may have to run over to Yooperville too.

I was reading on Michigan.org that Oscoda is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the legend of Paul Bunyan this weekend. It could be something interesting to go check out.

I think if I get some time I need to do some theme editing. I have like 4 themes I rather like, but want to combine certain elements into one that I can use year round, and just change the picture at the top. For example I should be putting a more fall-like pic up there very soon.

OK, I think that’s all I wanted to say for now.

Number 404

OK, so birthday went well. Jenn had to leave a little early to get to work on time, and waiter was far below what I believe to be Genji standards, but still all went well. Afterward I just came home and relaxed. When Scott come back in town, me and him will need to go sit at the sushi bar and just order whatever. BTW, spider rolls are good.

I have made some small site updates. There is now a links section toward the bottom of the sidebar. I only have 2, but it’s something. If a link to your blog is there and you would rather it not be, let me know.

Also, I changed the style sheet so that it allows for printing. I had no idea, but if you tried to print it would totally strip the style sheet. Now, it keeps all the styling, but removes the header, footer, and sidebar and sets the content area to 6.5 inches wide to properly fit on a piece of paper. No need to click a special “print friendly” button or anything like that, it just works. Go ahead, choose print preview and check it out.

Next is a new poll. in going through the old comments, a few have no name and I do not recognize the IP address. There were some that were unnamed that I could find an author for, but there are about 5 that I could not, the poll regards those.

Finally, I was down to $1.09 in my NFSN account, which means I went a full year with the site for just about $4.00 in total hosting fees. Compared to when I had .Mac for $99 a year, I am very happy. I added some more funds to my account, even though that last dollar would have lasted me about 3 months.

I think that is all. More when I have it.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Yes, today I am 24. I go to work from 12 to 5, then it is off to Genji to celebrate. I am up to 8 yes and 1 maybe, and there are 8 seats at each grill, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Also, this is #403, so that first post back on the 5th, was #400. Just so you know.

OK, thats all.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend was, well, uneventful. I made Jenn cornish hen and rice with capeze salad on Thursday, she made me crabcake burgers on Friday, we went to Outback on Saturday, she made tacos on Sunday, and I made my mom bbq chicken breast yesterday. It was all quite good.

I am back to work today, and back to school tomorrow.

Friday Leticia, Matt, Kyle, Jenn and I are going to Genji for my birthday along with anyone else who wants to show up. We were talking at work and decided it would be fun to go, so I sent out an email for anyone else who would like to come to email me ASAP. That was Friday, and I have heard nothing yet. I want to know in time to make reservations, and though it was a holiday weekend, most of us are rather geeky and have nothing better to do than check our email accounts.

This past Friday, the current blog turned 1, as well as being 3 years since I left blogger, which is still serving up those first posts.

OK, that is all.

One Week

So, the first week is nearly over. I have work tomorrow, then am off until work Tuesday, then work and class Wednesday.

None of my classes seem like they will be too much of a problem. Business and Psychology will certainly have work involved, and Blueprint Reading seems like a bit of a bore. Fluid Power seems like it will be fun.

So, thats my week. I went to school, and work, and that was about it for 3 days.

As a closing note, there are 216 noodles in every can of Campbell’s Chicken noodle. Really, the computer makes sure of it. Go ahead and count if you like, I will just believe the stat.

School

Summer is over, I must return to school.

For the first time in several years, I am honestly a little afraid. I am not sure if because it is my last year of Delta, my Business class, or my Psychology class, but I am.

I am feeling 80% better from sickness. I still cough up various things, but am mostly better.

I was looking for what restaurants give you stuff for your birthday, and found out Taco Bell gives you a free combo meal. I had no idea. Anyone heard of this? I did some searching to verify, but came up with duplicates of the same page.

Not a whole lot has happened otherwise. Was sick, didn’t do much, slept a lot, went to work, slept more, and that has been it.

Oh, Jenn and I were driving down Wilder, and it was raining like all hell yesterday, like an inch in 2 hours. So suddenly, her windshield wipers stop working, and we can barely see. Luckily, the road was nearly flooded so we were only going about 25 mph. So I get the great idea to open the window and reach out to see if its maybe stuck. As I do this, a truck decides we are all pansies and comes flying down the outside lane that is flooded with like 6″ of water going 40 mph…

Remember that part about my window being down?

We were wet.

k, thats all

Eight is Enough

A fun pop quiz for the first day back to school…

How many planets are there?

If you just thought “Nine”, you are wrong.

As of Thursday, there are now only eight planets, as Pluto has officially been demoted to “Dwarf Planet” status. It is decidedly too small, and in a too-populated area of space to be considered an official planet. The new description of what constitutes a planet is rather vague and confusing, I must say.

Granted, Pluto has been considered a planet for 70 some years now, but at its discovery its actually size was not accurately known, and some have argued that had it been at the time, Pluto would never have achieved planetary status.

This is not the first time a planet has been demoted either. At the time of their discoveries, the asteroids Ceres, Pallas, Juno, and Vesta were all called planets. Not until later was it discovered that these were only the largest of the thousands of objects in the asteroid belt. Pluto’s fate is very similar, as it has been discovered to be the largest of the items, as well as one of the nearest, in the Kuiper belt.

A second proposal by the International Astronomical Union would have brought the total number of planets to 12. This proposal not only kept Pluto, but added Ceres, the largest asteroid, as well as Pluto’s moon Charon (because Charon does not actually orbit Pluto, but instead the both orbit a point between them, they are technically a “Binary Planet System”, not a planet and moon), and the body “2003 UB313”, the “10th Planet” discovered in 2003 even further out than Pluto. That proposal, however, was voted down, and the new system later voted in.

How long this will stand is unknown. Only 400 some of the 10,000 astronomers who could have voted did, so it is not yet set is stone forever. That there may be a new proposal to grandfather Pluto as a planet and make all future discoveries dwarfs is possible, and even if the decision stands, future clarification is certain.
