Done!

April 27, 2006 Leave a comment

My last class for the semester was today, I am done until August. Yay!

I sold all but 1 book back, for a total of $130, for over $500 worth of books. Oh well, $130 is better than $0.

Now that I am out of school, I can begin some of my projects, one of them being blog work that will commence very soon. The poll has been being flaky, and my fixing it isn’t helping much, so that will certainly be on the list. Anyway, if the blog/poll/site/etc… do not work on one of your visits, don’t be alarmed.

Grades aren’t back yet, I am very sure of an A in everything but machining and CAD, since I didn’t do a particularly hard CAD final project (in my opinion anyway) and I didn’t finish all the machining projects, but I am still fairly sure of at least a B in both of those.

I think that’s it for now. Happy summer.

Almost

So, today is the Monday of the last week of school. I go sit in my CAD class today and watch the final presentations, tomorrow I take my final electronics test, followed by giving my final speech, then Thursday I have 4 hours to finish up in machining then do shop cleanup. That will be it then, no more till late August. Funny thing about the electronics test, it’s a 2 hour class, and I average about 5 or 10 minutes for the tests. Makes me wish I didn’t have a class afterward. Then again, the thought of giving an 8 minute speech makes me with I didn’t have the class afterward alot more.

We got our new work schedules for the summer at the staff meeting on Friday. I will be working 9 – 5 Thursday, 12 – 5 Friday, and 9 – 5 Saturday. I think Thursday is actualy 8:30, but were not open till 9 so you couldn’t visit me anyway.

Along with the hammock and ride to Mackinac, I am also considering making either a kayak or canoe over the summer. A kayak would be slightly cheaper and easier, but it would be a bit lonely, and a canoe is much cheaper than 2 kayaks. Reguardless, building eith is alot cheaper than buying one, and should prove to be a somewhat fun project.

So…, yeah, I guess that’s about all for now. Will let you know how the week ended and possibly some grades later in the week. I am getting at least a B in all my classes right now, with all A- or better certainly not out of the question.

Almost Done

April 18, 2006 Leave a comment

Yesterday I turned in the last 2 chapters as well as the exam for my QA-244 class, and gave my final presentation for my CAD-226 class. Next Tuesday I give my final speech for SPH-112. That will pretty much end the semester. It is becoming exciting.

Friday we are having a staff meeting at work and will be discussing summer schedules. Since I decided on not taking summer classes, I will only have work over the summer, but have to be hired directly by the library rather than work-study. This is good and bad, I will have to pay taxes (bad), but will get refund, (good), but will be able to work more hours (good), and don’t need to worry about class, homework, and work, just work (good). I guess 3 to 1 makes it overall good. Ehh, 3 to 2, I will need to take the class during fall semester.

Jenn and I were on Bed Bath and Beyond last night, and I realized I was staring at bedding sets not as they were, but as website color schemes. I immediately realized the over-geekyness and stopped though.

Uhm…

I guess that’s it.

Summer is Coming

April 9, 2006 1 comment

Wow, barely a week. Sadly, thats good for me recently.

Today I did 2 assignments for my QA class and printed out a bunch of stuff for my public speaking assignment. In all I did about 6 solid hours of homework today. It was nice out too, I would have loved a bike ride, but that’s what procrastinators get.

I have been thinking over some summer accomplishments I went to do, and here is the current list.

  • Clean my room (lets just say the blog isn’t the only thing I’ve been slacking on)
  • Ride bike to Rose City (to camp at RRRA) in prep for…
  • Ride bike to Mackinaw (yes, seriously, like 180 miles)
  • Get some reading in
  • Catch a fish
  • Visit Ferris

I think that would make for one hell of a summer, yes?

Really, I have been thinking it over, looking into it, and I really think the Mackinaw ride is a serious possibility. It would require like a week off work, and a lot of biking in spare time to build up endurance, and some real planning, but it can be done. Dave (from the library) has mentioned a desire to perhaps come, but I am up in the air about companions. On the one hand, it could be more fun, and probably a little safer. On the other though, his foot is broken, nobody else has offered, and I would be slightly pissed if I didn’t make it because my companion crapped out (not saying he would, just hypothetical, like the safety part).

Like I said though, Rose City first. Jenn can take supplies in her car and I can ride just to get some endurance riding in. RRRA (which is in Lupton, actually) is about 70 miles, less than half the way to Mackinac (which is only 180 miles I just found out, somehow was in my mind is 300, but actually 3 hour drive). Anyway, 70 miles is certainly doable in a day, in a mere 5 – 7 hours.

And like I said, I need to catch a fish. Last year I caught one, but didn’t land it. I need to catch, land, and decide if I will keep or release the fish, at least 3 times.

The Ferris thing could actually get turned into a bike trip too, or could be put off till fall, unsure for now.

Ok, that’s all for now.

Three weeks till school is over, then I should be able to start getting stuff done, and get back to blogging normally :) .

April Fools

April 1, 2006 Leave a comment

No, I’m not going to write some farce in trickery, I just need to update, and it happens to be today.

Today is also, btw, Apple’s 30th Birthday.

Tuesday I skipped speech, and half of electronics. It was really nice out and I decided I should have a day off, since I was sick through spring break. I went down to the end of Johnson and explored the bit of trails hidden there and shopped a bit at Meijer, then drove around with the windows down for a bit. Then some homework to make it all even out. It was quite nice out the past few days. Kinda cool and wet today, but better than winter.

School is coming closer to a close, which means an increase in final projects and such, which I am not appreciating.

I did a little biking Wednesday, 5.5 miles. I was a little tired when I left so not that far, I know, but is a start. I really really want to do more biking this summer.

So, that’s about it for now. I will try and be back within a week.

Whoops

March 24, 2006 1 comment

I was just thinking, “I should probably blog”. Thirteen days, yup, should probably blog.

Hmmm…

Jenn bought a new bike on Thursday. A 2005 Trek 3700. Is a nice bike, and she seems very happy with it.

Tuesday I gave my “the History of G” speech. Grade will come next week.

Tuesday before, I went out to the Lake Huron Area Council BSA office and bought a Midland – Mackinaw Trail map. I don’t know that I will ever use it, but who knows.

We had a staff meeting this morning. Nothing too fun though.

I think after this semester ends, I will have time to do stuff more and the blog will return to a bit more normal. I am sorry that I let it go 1 and 2 weeks post less. I used to see other people do that and promise I would never do that on my blog. I am disappointed in myself, and you should be too. Oh well, nothing I can do about it now.

I Know, I Know

February 24, 2006 Leave a comment

I realize I am not posting very often, but I really have rather little to post. Between school and work, all that is left is sitting and watching TV, and you don’t want to read about me doing any of that.

Last night I made a cutting tool for when we start using the lathes in machine shop.

I watched Matrix Revolutions Wednesday. I picked up a few new things that I had missed, but not much. Honestly, I swear a whole scene was missing. I am fairly confident in my opinion of what happened though.

I got some books from the library for a speech I have to give after spring break (which is week after next).

And that is all.

I guess I will post again when I have more to say.

BTW, Scott leaves in less than a week, and I know we will all miss him.

You Must Be This Beautiful to Ride the Quagmire

February 18, 2006 Leave a comment

Well, it is certainly different at the new library. Keeping track of 20 people rather than 10 takes some getting used to. If you get bored though, don’t hesitate to stop by. I’m sure you can find my work schedule somewhere on here.

Google seems to have stalled at 28 pages. It hasn’t added any more in over a week now. Oh well. I guess I need to go back to trying to get more incoming and outgoing links. What’s funny though, is if you go to blogs.google.com, they have every post I have made on WordPress, but google.com search only lists like last 10.

I watched Doom last night, or early this morning I guess. Very good movie. On the cheesy side, for sure, but very good. The FPS scene, in any other movie, would be cheesy as hell, but almost works since movie is, after all, based on a FPS (First Person Shooter). Also, the Rock saying “I’m not supposed to die!”. Yeah, cheesy. He is the Rock though, he isn’t supposed to die.

Ferris has me a little upset because they wont take my Mythology class, so I need to find 4 Cultural Enrichment courses, 1 at 2xx level or higher. Yeah, there are lots of classes that meet that. I guess 1 2xx and 1 anything, unless I can find a class that transfers as a 4 credit 2xx. I am looking at Photography, which is a 3 cr 1xx, but that leaves 1 credit of 2xx. Maybe Engineering Ethics, which is in fact 1 credit of 2xx, but takes 3 hours a week. Or, I can fait till I transfer and take japanese. Ferris credits are like 3x more money than Delta’s though. Sucks either way.

By the way, how do they doop us into sitting in a 1 credit class for 3 hours? Or a 5 credit for 8? I mean, sure, I would rather pay the 1 credit fee than for all 3 hours, but still. I would MUCH rather just pay for 1 hour and only go for 1 hour.

350

February 13, 2006 Leave a comment

This post is filed under Special, because it is my 350th, as well as following story.

Friday morning I was called by Jenn at about 7 AM to let me know she banged up her car, but was alright. About 4 she called to tell me to look out the window at the car she was test driving, because the damage to her car was around $8000 for body work alone, plus wheel alignment, possibly new rims, and who knows what else. Since her car bluebooks for around $5500 max, it just wasn’t worth fixing. So, tomorrow, she picks up her new car.

As I understand it, and it may not be perfectly correct, she was coming off I-75 North on the ramp to I-675 south and started to slide ( it had snowed that night, if you recall). She spun around in a 180, smucked the front drivers side of her car into the guard rail, bounced off, then smucked the rear drivers side and came to a stop. She is alright though, a bruise on her side from the door handle and a bit sore, but OK.

Other than that, not a whole lot. I worked friday, but got Saturday off. Today was spent catching up on some homework, and tomorrow I work again. Tuesday will be the presentation of speech 2, as well as an electronics test, but those are every Tuesday. Wednesday, I have off, and no plans for yet.

I guess that’s all.

Interesting Developments

February 8, 2006 Leave a comment

So, I went to go see the advisor from Ferris on Monday, and in typical incompetent counselor fashion, the guy was a criminal justice only advisor from the Saginaw extension, and has been to Ferris main campus few times. Would have been nice if Delta told me that ahead of time. But, I found out just after Monday blog that the head of Manufacturing was coming to Delta on Tuesday, so I was slightly appeased.

The tuesday meeting went much better. I found out there is a max of 25 people admitted each year, there is a decently good chance at scholarships, there is an internship during summer that averages $10 an hour, and other useful stuff. He managed to answer most of my questions, but I still have some on housing and financial aid.

Today, I worked at Wirt again. A lot has changed since last week. I set up more computers, and a printer, and they all went downstairs, and they were sitting upstairs, so that made for fun. It is looking really nice though. It is supposed to open next Tuesday, though there will be a few things not totally finished yet at that time. At least all the floors are done now.

Uhm… So I guess that’s it. Lunch tomorrow with Scott. Not a whole lot else.

See you all later I suppose.
