Camping 2005-3

October 2, 2005 2 comments

OK, I decided I am going to move away from the 3 day schedule. Also, Jenn got a job. But, that and all about my old site, can wait till next time. This entry is about camping.

We went up Friday, taking the same spot we had last time. Set up camp and all that, and made a fire. Dinner was the last half of our Subway we got on the way up. We went to bed a little after 10. The night was cold, but we stayed warm thanks to a good tent and sleeping bags.

Saturday Jenn was up first, and had breakfast going by the time I was up. Tater tots, eggs, and biscuits. Yum. After breakfast, and a little sitting around, we toured the park including a return to the lookout tower and down to the footbridge. Next was a little fishing, though we had no luck. Jenn did enjoy napping on the dock though. Lunch was hot dogs, then a nice game of Trivial Pursuit. We now have the “90′s Time Capsule” edition, which makes things a little easier.

Later, we had dinner of hamburgers and zucchini. The rest of the night was just sitting around the campfire admiring the pitch black around us. We went to bed around 1. Saturday evening was a little warmer than Friday.

Sunday morning we packed up and headed home. There was some construction in Arenac County, same as when we headed up, but nothing big.

Yes, I have pics, and will have them up within a week. There were many hunters up there, for some bird season, and for deer archery opener on Saturday. This made things strange, as you could hear shotgun fire at least once per hour most of the day. Kinda like camping in Saginaw. Also, the acorns were falling, so you would occasionally hear them fall crashing through leaves to the ground, which would scare you especially at night.

Jenn and I also bought some air-soft BB guns at Meijer Thursday, which we used frequently up camping. We lost alot of BBs, but recaptured many too. They came with sights, but they aren’t great ones. They are fun though.

OK, I will have Jenn remind me of anything I forgot, and that , the new schedule rules, and the old site, and more on Jenn’s job will be next time.

See you then

I don’t scare easy, i’m too dumb.

It Was My Birthday

September 10, 2005 Leave a comment

So my Birthday has come and gone, and was overall a good one. Jenn got me a practice chanter, so I can begin learning to bagpipe. I also got some money that is always useful. Good gifts. Jenn took me to Genji on Thursday night for dinner. I had filet and scallops and a tuna roll and a piece of octopus sushi. It was all very good. I love their soup. We got 1/2 off my meal (not counting sushi) because it was my birthday, and I got a little cake. As I said, very good.

SciFi is having a Bruce Campbell marathon. His new movie Man with the Screaming Brain is on in a few minutes.

Apple no longer lists the iPod mini on their store, and it’s not in the “sale” section yet either. I suspect it will show up their soon though, if anyone is looking for a deal.

I guess that’s it. bye.

Ooh, look what WP lets me do — :-)

Three hundred!

September 1, 2005 Leave a comment

Yay! My 300th post. Granted, it was really a few back, since I deleted some, but this is the official one. The one that really counts.

School is going well. None of my classes seem too horrible. Though, I am out of Fin-Aid money for books and supposedly will still need 1 more, but that’s how school goes.

One of the very cool parts about having Word-Press is, I am at Jenn’s, on her computer, and can post a blog. I love that.

All the old posts are now on this blog, but around 60 of them got screwed up dates. I am working on fixing that, along with deleting incorrect line breaks that were carried over somehow. Want to have it all fixed over the weekend, but probably not. My goal is at least the mis-dated ones.

I made mussels for dinner. It was OK. The pasta and sauce were real good, the mussels were just scary. Like I told Jenn, worst case scenario is we die.

Notice that now, under (or over, I forget) the counter in the blog sidebar is a word counter. I will of course have a special entry for my 100,000 word, but that’s a ways off.

I think that’s it. Enjoy the now-official new blog, and have a good weekend.

Poll’s will return when I get all the old posts straightened out. I have enough to work on for now.

The End

August 29, 2005 Leave a comment

For the second time in 2 years, I present my final blog of a particular address. Two years ago it was the final at blogger (which is actually still up) (and oddly, I was sick then too), and now I present my final blog with iblog on .Mac. This blog will not stay up, and will disappear on October 1st, 2005.

So, I am almost better, just a stuffed up nose mostly. My mom now has whatever I had though, so it is most definitely not an allergy.

I returned to school today after 486 days off. It sucked, but wasn’t that bad. They still only had the 1 book, that I don’t need until tomorrow anyway, so I didn’t get that. Went to CAD, and that seems like it will go fine. Pre-Calc was odd, because I have gone up through Calc 2, so should be easy as everything goes by, but since I haven’t had a math class in 2 and a half years, I needless to say am having trouble remembering some “should be easy” stuff. So after that, I went back to the bookstore and wow! They now had a second book! The line was long as hell though, so I walked out anyway. Maybe tomorrow.

So, I came home and took a nap cause I only slept like 4 or 5 hours last night, and made some steaks for dinner (which were awesome).

They just showed the Jeopardy that was the first with Ken Jennings. Yeah, he kicked some ass, huh?

What else…

You see that new Triple Whopper? Talk about a heart attack waiting to happen.

I guess that’s it. Wish it were a little more interesting, for being the last here, but then again it will just continue in 3 days anyway.

OK, so long, and see you Thursday at the new blog. I may or may not have all these posts up there by then, we will see.

The Job Thing, Continued

July 21, 2005 Leave a comment

OK, so I was freaking out Tuesday morning about going, but once Jenn got me to the airport and on the plane, I was fine. I landed in Minneapolis and after about 40 minutes, I figured out how to leave the airport and called a cab to Northwest’s headquarters. Filled out some paperwork, and was interviewed by the very nice Charlie. She said she really liked me and I had a good chance, then suggested I go to the mall till my flight left.

So, at the Mall of America I went to the Apple Store first, of course. Then ate at Ruby Tuesday’s and got on the train back to the airport. After a 45 minute delay in Minneapolis and a run through Detroit’s mile long terminal, I was home at about 8:00.

Overall, a fun day. Mall was a little disappointing, I would rather go to Somerset honestly, but not bad. Minneapolis seams like a cool city.

While I was gone, we thought my mom broke her foot, so I took her in to an orthopedic surgeon today, and found out no, but her knee is torn up.

Last night Jenn, her cousin and her boyfriend, and I went bowling. Had fun.

So, today I was called by Charlie, and she said the changed to position to temporary, and asked if I still want it. I said I guess so, since she said there is a good chance it would go to permanent in a few months. So, she said she would go talk to the next person up, and I should have a job offer soon. The way I heard it all, I am over 90% sure I have it.

So, a fun 3 days. I went almost 1100 miles in 3 airplanes, plus a train, 2 trams, 2 taxis, and 2 cars. Fun fun. And I have gotten way less sleep than I think I should have.

Scotty died. James Doohan passed away yesterday. Along with Star Trek, he was also a veteran of the Normandy invasion, where he was shot in the chest, leg, and right middle finger, which had to be amputated.

Anyway, thats all. See you Sunday I guess. By then I should know for absolute positive sure I think maybe.

And yes, I took pictures, and need to put them up. I need to put up a lot of pics.

till later,
nick

This is funny.

The Job Thing

July 18, 2005 1 comment

So, the job thing I said I would explain more.

I applied as a baggage handler for NorthWest Airlines at MBS. That was Wednesday morning. By Wednesday afternoon, I received a reply that I was chosen to be interviewed. Is the interview at MBS? No, it’s at their headquarters, in Minneapolis. Thursday morning I replied that I am willing to go, and that afternoon they say “OK, what day”? So another pair of emails later, I am booked on a flight to Minneapolis tomorrow morning at 7:45 and will be back here by 7:30 tomorrow night. Needless to say, I am nervous as hell.

Anyway, I have a few more things to do, it’s 11:10, and need to be up around 5 or so, so I need to get a move on and try sleeping soon.

Wish me luck

Five Thousand!

July 6, 2005 1 comment

Yeay! Five thousand visitors! Yeay!

OK, so not really. Probably closer to 10 visitors 500 times. But still. It’s more than you got.

So, after about 10 hours of thinking it was Scott, I double checked and through a goof by SiteMeter improperly listing Win XP and Firefox, noticed it was Jenn’s IP. So, Jenn was 5000, thus winning the prize for being 5000, and for correctly guessing in the poll.

New poll next time by the way.

I have 2 new shirts and a new pair of shorts courtesy of Jenn. Thank you again.

The back entrance is going a bit slower than I hoped. Hopefully we can gain some on it this weekend.

I have been trying to clean my room some. It’s, uhm, going.

I think that’s it. See you Thursday.

When asked what would happen if a freighter hit the Mackinac bridge, the designing engineer said “The boat would sink, with a great loss of life no doubt”.

Happy Independence Day!

July 3, 2005 Leave a comment

Yes, happy 4th, though its only the 3rd, but just the same.

Jenn and I went to the fireworks, and sat behind the condos on water. We sat with my dad. I think behind DoubleTree was better, but it was still good.

My brother’s ex, Danielle, who I used to have a pic of and will eventually put back up, died on Thursday night. My brother in typical fashion says it doesn’t bother him, but is really quiet and just wants to sit at home lately.

I have become re-obsessed with cell phones again (see 9/18/04, 6/11/03, and 6/4/03). Just wanted to mention that.

Back entrance is coming along. We have a wall up now, and cement is in. As I said last time (I think) about 2 weeks.

And finally, if anyone really likes me, you could take me to see Fantastic 4 next weekend (as in, pay for me, cause I poor).

OK, that’s all.

I have reached the next level of denial in the Apple-Intel saga. I now see the irony in future Macs containing Intel chips, and future XBoxs containing PowerPC chips.

I Got Shot

May 16, 2005 1 comment

Yup, downtown, in broad daylight, I got shot in the arm. It didn’t hurt as bad as they say though, everyone makes them out to be so horrible and such, but it really wasn’t bad. I’ll live I guess. Oh, I should mention it was a Tetanus / Diphtheria shot, huh.

We have been working on the backyard again. We keep finding more and more problems to work around. We are figuring it out though. I cut my hand Saturday evening on part of a fence post anchor, hence the tetanus shot.

Jenn and I went to Mill End today, to see what was left on sale. I found a few things, but had spent all my money on the shot. I plan on going back later in the week though.

Friday, as I mentioned, was Jenn and I’s first anniversary. I took her to TGIFriday’s, then we went back to her apartment for a while, and finally to see Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Dinner was very good, potato skins, new york strip, and cheddar mashed potatoes. The movie, also, was good. A few part’s from the book were dropped out, and a few were added.

OK, I think that’s it. Nothing else I can think of anyway.

See you Thursday.

nick

Mmm, Sacrilicious…
